pdfRest PDF Forms Pro Self-Hosted AMI Instructions

The PDF Forms Pro Self-Hosted API is provided as an Amazon Machine Image (AMI). This AMI is a snapshot of a server configuration and is available on the AWS Marketplace. It can be used as a template to deploy your own server instance, allowing you to add our PDF processing features to your own AWS environment or build your own custom workflows that you can run on demand.

PDF Forms Pro Self-Hosted API can be found in the AWS Marketplace.

Launching an EC2 instance

For this process you’ll need to have already subscribed to the PDF Forms Pro Self-Hosted API product on our AWS Marketplace page.

Setting up EFS for EC2

Follow these instructions to manually set up Amazon Elastic File System (EFS) for use with your self hosted stack.
Note that while we provide instructions for manually setting this up, this is best deployed as part of a cloudformation stack. Please contact us for assistance or for cloudformation template examples.

Create an Application Load Balancer.
Copy the Public DNS of the load balancer. It will be used in the steps to follow.
Create instance from desired AMI by following the steps in Launching an instance and Setting up an instance.
Create your Security Groups.
Create your EFS File System.
Mount the file system on the EC2 instance.
Modify the /etc/fstab configuration file.
Modify the permissions on the public directory: chown rocky:rocky -R /opt/datalogics/public

Setting up infrastructure for scaling and load balancing

Follow these instructions to manually set up autobalanced load scaling infrastructure for use with your self hosted stack.
Note that while we provide instructions for manually setting this up, this is best deployed as part of a cloudformation stack. Please contact us for assistance or for cloudformation template examples.

Create a new AMI Snapshot from the EC2 dashboard.
Create a new launch template.
Create a new target group.
Create a new autoscaling group.
Add a load balancer to your autoscaling group.
Create new listener rules.
Create new HTTPS listener rules.
Create new security group rules.

Setting up a shared file system

If you are running pdfRest Forms Pro Self-Hosted with another pdfRest Self-Hosted product, follow these steps to set up a shared EFS volume.

URW++ GmbH

URW++ GmbH, a German corporation having a place of business at Poppenbütteler Bogen 36, D-22399 Hamburg, Germany (“URW++”) is the owner and developer of certain fonts (“URW++ Fonts”). URW++ and Datalogics, Inc. have entered into an agreement (the “URW++ Enabling Agreement”) which entitles Datalogics, Inc. to sublicense certain rights to use and distribute URW++ Fonts.
Use of URW++ Fonts. Upon full payment of the agreed upon licensee fee, you are granted a non-exclusive right to use the URW++ Fonts.
Exclusion of Other Usage. It is prohibited to change or modify the font/trademark names used as identifying tags in the URW++ Fonts in any form or manner with prior written consent of URW.
No Other Rights. In the event your use of the URW++ Fonts is found to infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party, in any jurisdiction, you will cease use of such URW++ Fonts in such jurisdiction unless or you secure any additional rights necessary for such use.
End of Term. You are responsible for removing and deleting URW++ Fonts from any AMI on which they have been installed at the end of your license term.
